"The Fire Organ’s 9-song record Dumbed Out delivers the goods with some really cool songs that are kind of a King Missle/Guided By Voices/Galaxie 500/ type stuff. The lead singer has a total presence in the songs, offering sounds reminiscent of beloved Canadian mega star and activist Neil Young, and at other times a little like Patty Smith, or, himself. This automatically gives a record a stamp of approval.

The overall lo-fi feel works perfectly with the original sound that this band has created by melding catchy, although sometimes repetitive poppy lyrics and hooks along with really interesting guitar sounds that border on having tuning issues in that neat Pavement way.

The band definitely does it their way which is cause for celebration these days if you are someone who listens to a lot of local records. The songs work well as an album. Different rhythms and arrangements keep the whole thing very interesting.

My favorite songs were “Dumb Doubt,” “Keep it Easy” and “Iran Thinking.” We really have something here with The Fire Organ. Check them out."
